Abundant Pardon! Forgiven! Blessed
“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” Psalm 32:1
There is a story told about a musician who was drafted into the British Army during the Seven Year’s War, who became ill and became a deserter from the army when he decided just to go home. He started life as a musician but died as an astronomer.
He was labeled the most famous astronomer of his time which was 1738–1822. He discovered the planet of Uranus in 1781. After his historic discovery, King George sent for him. His first interview with King George III in 1782 and what was going to happen was a complete surprise to him.
He thought the King would order his execution for being a deserter. But publicly he was handed the King’s pardon for the offense of desertion. He was completely forgiven, pardoned and although he was guilty he was forgiven. The King made him the King’s Astronomer and. even knighted him.

He was a brilliant scientist and has many discoveries to his credit. Sir William Herschel was guilty and could have been condemned by the King but he was abundantly pardoned by a merciful King and even became a member of the royal household. His guilt was covered and seen no more. He was blessed at the meeting and thereafter was blessed.
Psalm 32 starts with a beatitude, a statement of a blessing of utmost bliss. Blessed are those who are forgiven. Their wrongdoing has been covered. They are guilty but their offense will be remembered…
