“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God. Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6,7

The Sunday after Christmas the acolyte went to light the advent wreath but was stopped before he lit it. Not even Jesus’ candle in the middle was lit. Advent was over, the event happened. But none the less, Emmanuel is with us. Now the cradle is empty, and the tomb is empty also, but Jesus is alive and with us forever. Jesus loves us and cares about us. He watches, listens to, and knows us. As followers of Christ, we want to know Him and worship Him as we have fellowship with the One who will never leave us.

A college church in Wheaton put out a music video of some of the words from Handel’s Messiah one Easter. Members of their congregation held up signs with the words of the song. I watched it on YouTube many times for it was clever and very well done. This Christmas…
