Antidote To Worry, Seek First

Don”t Worry, Be Happy

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 NIV

This is what it means to me:

“But seek…”Seek means to look for something diligently, to attempt to find something.

“first his kingdom…” His kingdom is the Kingdom of God. He is the ruler of Heaven and Earth and is the reigning King.

We can seek for we are saved by God’s grace, God’s gift. We are seeking God’s provision instead of worrying about things that concern us like what we will eat or wear.

Jesus was telling His disciples and us not to worry. He was telling them the antidote to worry is about seeking God.

God is ready, available, and always there to be found by His children. He is always ready for us to run to Him and to worship Him instead of turning to and leaning on worry and anxiety.

We need to make a conscious decision to seek the Kingdom of God when we are anxious about anything. We need to turn to God.

“and His Righteousness,” His righteousness referring to the Righteousness of God the Father and the Righteousness of Jesus who is a member of the Godhead. Righteousness means right standing.
