Season 1, Episode One. The ending is the single most impactful moment in The Chosen’s history.

Traumatized so deeply by multiple tragedies and wounds that she changed her identity, Mary Magdalene weeps and collapses into the arms of her Creator. Why? Because he not only called her by her real name, he identified her as his.

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. You are mine.” These words were not just for Israel, and they were not just for Mary’s character in The Chosen…they are for you.

Quoted from

“He said: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer.” 2 Samuel 22:2

Backstories are interesting to listen to or learn about but not ultimately important. I was once one way but now am another way is a common declaration of speakers.

Speakers Backstories

I have been to teen conferences where the speakers have told their backstories. I was a drug addict or I was an alcoholic or I was in jail but now I am here to tell you what I am now. I was one way now I am another. The another is the important part. They are not speaking to praise addiction, alcoholism, or jail.

That is part of the backstory of who they were but what is important is their “front story”.

We may not have been addicts, alcoholics, or in jail but we all have backstories before Jesus came into our lives even if we were born into a Christian family and have gone to church all our lives.

All Have Backstories Before

Everyone lives under God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness. All have sinned and fallen short of God’s perfection. All can have an intimate relationship with Our Lord and know that we are loved, are the Beloved even if we did not…
